2021 Progress Report

Based in Oslo, the Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (EITI) implements the global standard to promote the open and accountable management of oil, gas and mineral resources.

Nim design won the tender to design the flagship EITI Progress Report 2021, in four languages. This report is the EITI’s annual overview of the progress to improve transparency and governance of natural resources in 55 countries around the world. The report describes how EITI implementation has been adapted and sustained amid the constraints posed by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Following a virtual meeting with the client to understand the scope of the project, we provided a few design ideas for their consideration. The ‘highlight’ concept was the winning choice for the report.

Headlines are highlighted in the EITI dark blue so readers can easily get the essence of the content before reading further. This colour also reflects the serious role played by the organisation in the extractive sector. Specific stories are backed up by data presented as charts, graphs and infographics; EITI branding elements combine with large photos to make a dynamic and engaging publication.

EITI was impressed that we kept to the agreed timeline despite some delays with their information gathering. The English, French, Russian and Spanish versions of this flagship publication were launched in June 2021.

Thanks to their skilful, creative and customer-oriented approach, they delivered a top-quality product that presents the EITI’s achievements in a digestible and visually-engaging manner, in line with our organisational identity and diverse language needs. Nim design demonstrated great flexibility and communicated frequently to ensure that the report captured our feedback throughout the course of the project and within our budget. It was a real pleasure to work with nim design, and we will definitely recommend their services to our peers.
