Looking back on 2020 and forward into 2021

As we look back on 2020 and forward into 2021, the purpose of nim design – ‘to make a difference for our clients’ – feels more important than ever. With the hope of life returning to normal in the coming months, we remain dedicated to an open and honest way of doing business; we want to deliver design services which help people from all backgrounds feel understood, included and valued. If the challenges of the pandemic have taught us anything, it’s that integrity and kindness matter.

I’m happy to report that throughout the last difficult 10 months we have been honoured to work with an amazing array of clients ranging from huge global names to local charities.

I would like to thank Allsfär, Certitude London, Church of England, Citizens Advice, The Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award Foundation, Harrow Churches Housing Association, Imperial Health Charity, The International League of Dermatological Societies, Jo’s Cervical Cancer Trust, King’s College Hospital Charity, MS International Federation, Providence Row Housing Association, the Royal Masonic Benevolent Institution, Safe Child Thailand and the World Trade Organization for their support in 2020 and look forward to strengthening our partnership in 2021. Our clients have been so supportive of nim design throughout the years, and for this we are grateful and commit wholeheartedly to them, whatever their size – and we adapt our services to their individual needs. These organisations play a huge role in building a better society and it is rewarding to be part of their teams, especially during these challenging times.

The pandemic has hit the economy hard leaving businesses and charities squeezed financially. To bounce back successfully, organisations will need to reconnect quickly and sympathetically with stakeholders who, in turn, are likely to be coping with their own personal trials. Investing wisely in designs to communicate your brand values will help you rebuild relationships. Equally, working with a design agency who understands your budget constraints is more important than ever.

Like many people during lockdown our local shops and services became essential – not just for what they could provide – but also for the sense of community they gave us. That is why we will be pledging to source locally, and continue to contribute to charitable causes. Throughout 2021 and beyond we plan to strengthen these local links and review our working practices to limit our impact on the environment and the planet. We are committed to helping our clients choose the best environmentally friendly materials such as 100% recycled paper for their printed materials; where appropriate, we would advise going digital.

Even though most of us are now in another lockdown (hopefully the last hurdle we all have to face), the nim design team are ready and excited for the year ahead. We look forward to working on many more exciting projects with our clients and to welcome new clients who recognise the powerful role design can play in their recovery from the pandemic.

I would like to wish all our clients – old, new and yet to come – a very prosperous New Year and hope that 2021 brings us all happiness, good health, vigour and more fun than 2020!
