Happy New Year from sunny Malaysia! I am here to celebrate my mum’s 80th birthday and spend some quality time with her and my family until the end of January. I will also be working so feel free to contact me if there’s anything I can do for you.
2020 is not just a new year, but a new decade too. This often signals a cultural shift. Whatever this shift may be, I hope kindness, love, acceptance and tolerance take precedence in all that we do.
2019 was a busy year for nim design. We worked with nearly 20 clients producing what we love doing – Annual Reviews, Animations, Newsletters and Infographics – and for the first time participated in UK Charity Week. This was a wonderful way to raise awareness of our commitment to support charities through design and to highlight their incredible work. We plan to make our campaign better this year. On a local level, we continue to support Circus Starr, a home-grown charity enabling disadvantaged children to have some fun during the festive season.
In the summer we enjoyed a visit from representatives of a global Geneva-based organisation who were researching new design partners. They were impressed by our designs and we are now working with them. We are so proud to add this important new client to our international portfolio.
For many of our clients, Brexit will require a strengthened commitment to ensuring their visual brands connect and communicate appropriately with their stakeholders. For us it has meant some uncertainty around the future of our highly-skilled, Portuguese Senior Designer, Miguel. However, I am thrilled to confirm that Miguel has secured his UK resident status and our in-house creative resource of animation, illustration – and fun! – is assured.
We’re excited about our plans for 2020 which include launching a Sustainable Promise to add to our commitment to an open and honest relationship with clients. By making small changes we want to play our part in protecting the environment. If all companies take small steps to care for the environment, we can make a big difference together.
Workwise we’re kicking off 2020 with some exciting projects: a bold new catalogue for office interiors innovator Allsfär, a dynamic brand refresh for The Royal Masonic Benevolent Institution, a series of social media animations for the MS International Federation and an annual review for Safe Child Thailand. We hope to be back in touch with our past clients as the year progresses to showcase our freshest design solutions and improved services.
Whatever happens we are ready, so bring it on, 2020! Once again, Happy New Year to you all!
