Energy disclosures Climate change and Citizens Advice As an organisation, we recognise the impact of climate change and our responsibility to take action to contribute to the safeguarding of the natural environment for present and future generations. We take steps across a number of our areas of operation to reduce our environmental impact and to work in the least environmentally harmful way possible. We are committed to reducing energy use and carbon emissions in our operations and to raise awareness of the need to do the same amongst our staff. Our carbon strategy Citizens Advice is mainly an office-based organisation. We work to reduce our carbon emissions through a focus on: office energy use—working with our landlords on improving energy efficiency and waste reduction travel—promoting public transport and more sustainable travel use and encouraging video conferencing where appropriate Office energy use We will continue to work with our landlords to reduce Citizens Advice’s share of energy consumption in office buildings. Travel As the figures state, there was a large decrease in travel in the pandemic year. Future travel emissions will be partly dependent on whether government policy restricts travel, nevertheless we will aim to keep outputs low in this category, by encouraging staff to work using a blended approach and using remote conferencing and online collaboration where possible. Methodology Emissions are related primarily to our offices, travel and overnight stays at hotels. Citizens Advice national offices are all based in landlord-managed buildings.
